From our experience, when it comes to IPCA, the age old saying “Prevention is better than cure” cannot be overstated. When it comes to India, a country notorious for being a black-hole for abducted children, prevention is the only option.
The single most important step any parent can take that suspects his/her child’s abduction can take is to immediately obtain a custody order from the court of jurisdiction in the USA. Before abduction, it can prevent abduction. If abduction could not be thwarted, having a custody order already in hand can reduce a significant amount of stress later on in the legal wrangling that will ensue in both countries. A custody order from USA gives the left-behind parent a significant edge in various other steps, in India as well as in the USA.
